LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A 12-year-old boy from Owensboro was discharged today from University of Louisville Hospital after suffering a rare medical emergency that left him paralyzed from the neck down.

Camden Gish would typically be doing the things many 12-year-old boys are into.

“I play video games, I play soccer, I play with my brothers sometimes,” he told WAVE News.

However, his soccer matches look very different now because the young athlete is pretty much learning to walk all over again.

Gish’s life took a drastic turn last June. The eldest of three boys woke up feeling numb on the right side of his body. Just hours later, he was airlifted to Louisville, put on a ventilator, and lost most movement from the neck down.
