The annual Lompoc Valley Big Game is Saturday. And this time, both football teams are unbeaten going in.

This marks the first time that has happened in recent memory. Lompoc is 3-0 going into The Big Game, which a non-league one again this year. Cabrillo is 2-0. Lompoc will be the home team during the rare Saturday game, which is slated for 4 p.m. at Huyck Stadium in Lompoc.

Because of poor lighting at venerable Huyck Stadium, Lompoc and Cabrillo will both play all their home football games during the afternoon this year. Lompoc athletic director Claudia Terrones has said a project for new lights at Huyck is in place and that she hopes the stadium will be ready for night time use during the 2025-26 winter sports season.
