While nearly 500 volunteers are already signed up for the Santa Barbara County Veterans Stand Down , set for Oct. 25, licensed barbers and stylists are still needed to ensure veterans can quickly receive haircuts, which organizers say is one of the most requested services each year.
The event, to be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Santa Maria Fairpark, provides essential services and support to homeless and at-risk veterans.
“We’re looking for barbers and stylists,” said 5th District Santa Barbara County Supervisor Steve Lavagnino. “We have some, but the more barbers that we have the quicker we can get people to get their haircut and move onto some of the other services that Stand Down provides.”
