CLAVERACK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Two men were arrested after a fight between incarcerated people at the Brookwood Secure Facility in Claverack. The fight took place around 5:20 p.m. Thursday.

Police said three people were involved in a fight: an 18-year-old man was the victim, and Malachi Simms and Richard Avila are facing charges.

Simms, 19, was charged with attempted assault, two counts of knowingly making or possessing dangerous contraband in prison, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon: previous conviction.

Avila, 20, was charged with assault, knowingly making or possessing dangerous contraband in prison, and criminal possession of a weapon: previous conviction.

Both were sent to Columbia County Jail and are scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 16. The victim sustained cut
