ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R, FL-13) took to social media on Thursday, calling for House Speaker Mike Johnson to put a statue of Charlie Kirk in the U.S. Capitol after he was fatally shot at an event in Utah.
Luna, who represents part of Pinellas County, circulated a letter on her X account addressed to Johnson. The letter, also signed off by other members of Congress, said the statue would "honor his legacy." The Capitol currently has 100 statues , which are donated by each of the 50 states.
