DANVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - The Kentucky Supreme Court will rule on whether Charter Schools can be funded in the state.
The high court heard arguments on the case at Centre College in Danville. The court is traveling the state in the wake of repairs being made at the Capitol building.
It follows a Franklin Circuit judge ruling in 2023 that House Bill 9—which set up a funding plan for charter schools—violated the Kentucky constitution.
“Because there’s no question they use public money. No argument to the contrary, they are taking public school SEEK money and local money,” Robert F. Leach told justices Thursday on the stage at Newlin Hall in the Norton Center for the Arts.
