Ireland has announced they will boycott Eurovision in 2026 if Israel is allowed to take part. Despite many calls to ban Israel, they were allowed to take part in this year and last year’s competition. Ireland’s national broadcaster RTÉ said in a statement: "RTE feels that Ireland's participation would be unconscionable given the ongoing and appalling loss of lives in Gaza.
"RTE is also deeply concerned by the targeted killing of journalists in Gaza, and the denial of access to international journalists to the territory, and the plight of the remaining hostages."
So far the European Broadcasting Union is “consulting” on how to “manage participation and geopolitical tensions.” Countries have until mid-December to decide to withdraw from the contest. Slovenia and Spain have also threatened
