MIDDLEBURY — A total of 1,465 pheasants will be released on public lands in preparation for the upcoming hunting season.

The pheasants will be stocked at the Carlton Hill Multiple Use Area & Sulfur Springs Cooperative Hunting Area, state Department of Environmental Conservation officials said in a news release.
