Chanettee Wannasaen of Thailand fired a 9-under-par 63 and established a two-shot lead after the first round of the Kroger Queen City Championship on Thursday in Hamilton, Ohio.
Wannasaen had an eagle 2 along with seven birdies while keeping a bogey-free card. Gigi Stoll is alone in second at 7-under 65.
Wannasaen credited her coach for a recent swing fix after she struggled at several previous LPGA Tour events.
"It's really tough because like in Evian, in Portland, in Canada and in Boston I just feel like I cannot hit the ball -- really cannot hit the ball," Wannasaen said. "So that made me lose confident. But this week is pretty like earn more confident from today, so I just want to enjoy."
