MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Shovels hit the ground Thursday afternoon, as the City of Fitchburg hosted a groundbreaking of the new Police Services Facility.
The City of Fitchburg approved the new police department building in August.
It is expected to cost $9 million less than what they had budged for.
The police department currently resides in the same building with City Hall.
City of Fitchburg Police Chief Alfonso Morales said he is looking forward to this new chapter.
“For the last ten years, we’ve been pushing for this and finally the time has come,” said Morales. “Finally, we can see light at the end of the tunnel. Finally, we can have a building that will be built to suit the needs of a police department.”
