WILLIAMS, Ariz. — Along Route 66 in northern Arizona, one unusual roadside attraction has become a top-rated stop for travelers: A free museum dedicated to fossilized poop.
The Poozeum, founded by George Frandsen, is home to the world’s largest collection of coprolites, or fossilized feces.
“It’s all from dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals like crocodiles, fish, and even bugs,” Frandsen said. “We have fossilized farts, which are insects trapped in amber that have a gas bubble coming from them.”
Frandsen’s fascination with coprolites began when he was a teenager and wandered into a rock and fossil shop in Moab, Utah.
