SIOUX FALLS — Facing a full count with two down in the bottom of the 10th inning, Jordan Barth was ready to sell out on his final offering.
The 26-year-old shortstop lifted a solo shot over the left-field fence, and the Sioux Falls Canaries escaped with an 8-7 win over Fargo-Moorhead on Thursday night in Game 3 of the American Association's West Division Championship Series at The Birdcage.
"On 3-1, I disagreed a little bit with the call, but obviously everything happens for a reason," said Barth, an Augustana alum. "It kept me in there to hit. I was just trying to get on base for Josh [Rehwaldt], honestly, and tried to find a gap.
"I barreled the ball, and it went over the fence."
