Barclays customers have voiced their complaints about being overcharged by £120 when purchasing a common item. The bank has received complaints via social media from disgruntled customers who noticed hefty additional charges on their statements after buying fuel. One of the incidents was at a Tesco petrol station.
The problem seems to be linked to the pre-authorisation system used when purchasing fuel at the pump. This system requires customers to pre-authorise a set amount, such as £120, before filling up their vehicle to calculate the actual bill.
One customer told Barclays: "When paying for fuel £120 was taken as well as the £40 fuel put in, the £120 is still showing three days later as pending and I cannot use the money. This should be back in my account, how do I fix this ASAP ple
