MURRAY – While the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, might feel like yesterday to millions of Americans, two entire generations of young adults, teens and children were not yet born on that tragic day. During a Thursday morning ceremony commemorating the 24th anniversary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6291 Commander RJ Owens said he fears more and more people are forgetting every year.

The VFW marked the solemn occasion at the Veterans Memorial in Chestnut Park, with Owens starting with a timeline of that bright September morning.

• 7:59 a.m. EST – American Airlines Flight 11 leaves Boston's Logan International Airport with the scheduled destination being Los Angeles .

• 8:14 a.m. – United Airlines Flight 175 departs from Boston with 65 passengers aboard, also headed to Los Angel
