The sleek, geometric, and stylised form of Tamworth's iconic Art Deco Regent Cinema's facade is set for a well-earned and "striking" facelift, which could be completed by Christmas.

The project is being undertaken by Bishop Outdoor Advertising, and will coincide with work to restore and relocate the dilapidated digital billboard on the Kable Avenue side of the 1930s-built cinema.

Bishop commercial director, Nic McAlpine, said the company had been working with the cinema's owner, Andrew Ward, for the past 18 months on a plan for the new colour scheme and digital billboard.

Mr McAlpine said the existing digital billboard was last used "about 2019".
