Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Annabel Mtalimanja has disclosed that two members of an unnamed political party were arrested in the Chipala, Nafisi area of Lilongwe after being found at a constituency tally center without a permit.

Mtalimanja made the remarks during MEC’s press briefing in Lilongwe on the progress of preparations for next week’s general election.

The Chairperson reminded party representatives that they must not be present at any polling station or tally center without proper authorization.

She assured stakeholders that the Malawi Electoral Commission is doing everything possible to ensure a free and fair election next Tuesday.

So far, all vehicles transporting ballot papers have successfully reached their designated constituencies.
