ELBA — A group of freshmen at Elba High School are on a mission to change the perspective on one of America’s darkest days. By spreading kindness, they seek to honor the thousands of lives lost and those who responded with compassion and heroism in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2011, terror attacks.
Thirty-five students were surprised Thursday with white, letter-sized envelopes that each contained $25 in cash provided by an anonymous donor. The students were then encouraged to go out and commit three acts of kindness as part of a 9/11 pay-it-forward challenge.
