The 2025 Panhandle-South Plains Fair returns this week with a few new rides, some creative new food options and a lot of returning fan favorites.
This will be the 108th edition of the fair. It opens Thursday, Sept. 18 with its traditional Buck-a-Ride preview night from 6 to 11 p.m., when rides are only $1 each, ahead of the fair's full run Friday through Sept. 27 at the fairgrounds at Broadway and Avenue A.
This year's fair will be dedicated to Craig McDonald, a former member of the fair board whose family has been involved with the organization for generations, Wallace said. McDonald, a longtime leader in the Lubbock-area banking and agriculture industry, died in February at age 90.
