The Lubbock High football team — and its opponents — knows what it has in star running back Bo Davis. Thursday, the Westerners showed what other elements they have to their game.

LHS got offensive fireworks galore against Snyder, but it was defense at the forefront. The Westerners forced three turnovers and posted eight tackles for loss in a 48-21 romp over the winless Tigers at Lowrey Field.

It wasn't that close, either. LHS led 40-7 at halftime before Snyder added a pair of scores in the final five minutes.

Two takeaways by the Westerners (1-2) came in the first 24 minutes, a welcome sight to fourth-year coach Juan Rodriguez. He said it was the manifestation of the team's "gauntlet" drill that focuses on making plays beyond the tackle.
