COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Contemporary Theatre of Ohio is taking audiences down the rabbit hole for a tuneful trek through Wonderland.

An all-new musical take on the classic literary tale, "Alice by Heart" transports the action to a tube station in London during The Blitz, where a group of civilians seek refuge from the war. To comfort her ailing friend, a young woman recounts "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" from memory.

"As they're hiding out in this scary moment in their lives, they turn to stories," said Leda Hoffmann, artistic director of The Contemporary and the director of this production. "And so, this play...takes us on a journey of meeting The Caterpillar and The Cheshire Cat, The Mad Hatter - all of the characters from Alice in Wonderland done in this really beautiful visual way.
