BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Bills safety Damar Hamlin's efforts to increase CPR and AED awareness are well known and successful, but he also wants to use his platform to help children with his back-to-school supply giveaway.

The giveaway benefitted 1,000 children in Buffalo, with everyone receiving a backpack full of school supplies and free haircuts and braids. Hamlin also used the event as an opportunity to teach kids CPR.

"That's the biggest difference-maker in propelling these kids to have equal chances to everybody around the world, is giving them the resources and, you know, just showing them that support and that love that we're here for them," Hamlin said.

He wants these children to benefit from what he went through.
