President Donald Trump said on Friday that the suspect in the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk has been taken into custody.

Speaking on “Fox & Friends,” Trump said: “With a high degree of certainty, we have him.” He added that a minister who had relations to law enforcement identified the alleged killer, which then led to his father getting involved and the suspect being turned into the police. “Somebody that was very close to him said, ‘Hmm, that’s him,’” he said.

A press conference with state and federal officials in Utah has now been scheduled for 9 a.m. ET.
