President Donald Trump said authorities have caught the person suspected of fatally shooting Charlie Kirk while he spoke at an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, Sept 10.
Trump made the announcement on Fox & Friends on Friday morning, Sept. 12.
“I think with a high degree of certainty, we have him,” Trump said, while praising investigators for their efforts.
The news comes a day after the FBI released photos and a video of a person of interest. The footage showed the person running across the roof of one of the university’s buildings, before jumping down and escaping the scene.
Officials will provide further updates during a news conference at 9:30 a.m. ET, which can be watched live on YouTube and at the top of this story.
Trump: 'So much work has been done'
“Getting somebody that you start off with absolutely nothing and we started off with a clip that made him look like an ant,” said Trump, calling the footage “almost useless.”
“So much work has been done over the last two and a half days,” the president continued.
