In a post on X on Friday, celebrated author Stephen King apologized for a post made following Charlie Kirk's death, but continued with his criticism of the right-wing activist.
"I apologize for saying Charlie Kirk advocated stoning gays," he wrote. "What he actually demonstrated was how some people cherry-pick Biblical passages."
The writer known as the 'King of horror' had previously written on the platform that Kirk, who was fatally shot at a Utah college campus on Wednesday, had "advocated for stoning gays to death."
He added, "This is what I get for reading something on Twitter w/o fact-checking. Won't happen again."
This is a developing story and will be updated.
