The top executives of Comcast sent a letter to all employees about the shooting death of Charlie Kirk , calling for the “respectful exchange of ideas” amid concerns of an uptick in political violence.

The executives, CEO Brian Roberts and president Mike Cavanaugh and incoming Versant CEO Mark Lazarus, also referenced comments made on MSNBC by political analyst Matthew Dowd in the immediate aftermath of the shooting. Dowd had cited Kirk’s rhetoric for leading to the shooting at Utah Valley College. MSNBC’s president later apology and Dowd was fired from the network.
