Another football season is in full swing, and most Northlanders are feeling pretty good about their respective teams (Go, Vikes). Let's dive into this week's column:

Chequamegon Bay continues to be on fire for a few fun bites that surely will only get better. Checking in with our friends at River Rock Inn & Bait Shop, we have learned that the Ashland area is still producing some good walleye bites in many select areas. Anglers have been catching them jigging, dragging and trolling. In many situations, anglers are starting to trickle back to spring pattern fishing, which means live bait rigging or simple jig-and-minnow combos.

As the waters continue to cool, Ashland anglers will certainly have some fair-game chances for shallower-running trout from Long Island in toward Ashland. Big small
