Nearly two days after conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was fatally shot at Utah Valley University, the FBI announced the suspect had been taken into custody.

During a press conference on Sept. 12, FBI Director Kash Patel and his team officially confirmed the news. The suspect has been identified as Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah resident.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox revealed the person who turned Robinson in said he had confessed to being the shooter. Robinson was said to have mentioned Kirk at a dinner days before the shooting, stating the reasons why he hated the famed conservative influencer.

The FBI and other law enforcement agencies in the investigation have recovered the weapon, a Mauser .30-06 caliber bolt-action rifle, that was believed to be used in the shooting. The gun
