The NBA has seen its fair share of controversies, but it isn’t every day that LeBron James jumps into one with nothing more than a few laughing emojis and a nod to “cash.” Yet here we are, with the Kawhi Leonard saga pulling in even the league’s biggest star through an Instagram comment section. It all started when Kevin Love posted a reel on Instagram.

In it, a character wearing an American flag-themed jumpsuit delivers a line that felt tailor-made for Kawhi’s situation: “Pay me my money! … In cashhhh.” To which the “Mr. Bank” character replies: “Cash? You’ve already been wired the money.” Love ran with it and gave it the ultimate caption, perfecting the art of humour and information.
