The long anticipated opening of the Apple store at 1430 Woodward in downtown Detroit is finally coming.

The company announced it wil open the store next Friday, Sept. 19, at 5 p.m.

The store will join other name brand shops on that stretch of Woodward including Nike, Lululemon and Warby Parker.

For decades, that stretch of Woodward was lined with boarded up buildings.
