WENATCHEE — Pear harvest season is expected to end in mid-October, with the crop on pace to be “bountiful,” according to USA Pears, which forecasts 60% more fruit than last year.

According to a Washington State Tree Fruit Association statement, the high yields are the result of ideal weather and growing conditions. Last year’s adverse weather and record-setting freeze caused a 40-year harvest low in 2024.

“So while this year’s crop (16.8 million 44-pound boxes) is looking to be about 60% higher than last year’s (10.6 million boxes) it is still only about 18% above the five-year average,” said Jon DeVaney, WSTFA president.

Washington and Oregon are the leading U.S. producers of pears, producing 88% of all fresh pears in the country.
