STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 20-year-old man allegedly shot another male in the leg while the victim and his girlfriend hid behind a fence in West Brighton, according to sources.

The 25-year-old victim was walking down a street with his girlfriend when they were accosted by three individuals who exited a car, a law-enforcement source told the Advance/SILive.com.

Elias Reyes of Spruce Street in Roselle, New Jersey, has been indicted on charges that include attempted murder in connection with the shooting on Sept. 2 at about 7:30 p.m. on Dongan Street near Castleton Avenue, according to authorities.

The criminal complaint alleges that Reyes and two other individuals who remain at large “attempted to cause the death of another individual.”

Police previously described the trio as males .
