A Canton Township man accused of strangling his wife during a fight on Monday has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder, officials said.
Michael Shaonan Shen, 30, was arraigned Thursday in 35th District Court in Plymouth, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said.
A judge ordered Shen held without bond and scheduled his next court hearing for Sept. 19.
If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
Court records did not list an attorney for the defendant on Friday.
Prosecutors said Canton police were called at about 3:30 p.m. Monday to a house in the 200 block of Pinehurst Drive near Cherry Hill and Canton Center roads for a report of a person not breathing.
