A Reddit user has gone viral after potentially turning a $60 thrift-store gamble into what could be a luxury score worth thousands.

Posting to the subreddit Thrift Store Hauls, u/Madcat207 said he spotted "a couple of boxes peeking out at me" while thrifting with his family. Recognizing the Montblanc name, he paid $59.98 for both items.

"While I am a pen guy, I have never had a fountain pen; but I got lucky last night," he wrote, sharing photos that have since attracted more than 6,500 upvotes.

Once home, he discovered both boxes contained Montblanc Meisterstück 145 Classique Platinum fountain pens, with fine nibs and no trace of ink.
