Ithaca, N.Y. - A man who is the subject of a large ongoing search in an Ithaca-area state park is from Syracuse, according to a state official.
Search teams, including divers, dogs and drones, have been scouring the 811-acre Buttermilk Falls State Park since Monday. The search resumed again Friday, said John Craig, a spokesperson for the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
Searchers are looking for Jonathan “Jon” D. D’Agostino, a 20-year-old man from Syracuse, who is a former Ithaca College student, Craig said. He last attended the college in 2023, and currently lives in Syracuse with his father, Craig said.
The park remains open, but visitors should expect to see searchers, Craig said.
The search is being conducted by state troopers, forest rangers and park
