TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) -- A 30-year-old man is in custody following a police pursuit and shots being fired Thursday night.

According to Captain Jack Kennedy with the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, police responded to calls of shots fired from a red car at Landmark Apartments on Old Montgomery Highway around 9:00 p.m. Officers found a red vehicle being driven Tyler Guyton upon arrival, and said Guyton refused to identity himself before attempting to drive out of the parking lot, which was blocked by a patrol unit.

Kennedy said that when Guyton began to accelerate towards the parked patrol unit an officer on foot fired a shot at Guyton's vehicle while giving him orders to stop. Authorities claim Guyton stopped for a moment before driving back through the parking lot until he hit a dead e
