The HVAC system at Jerome Middle School has been down for about a week.

On Sept. 4, the school's heat exchanger "experienced a partial failure and has since fully failed," according to a Wednesday Facebook post from Jerome Joint School District.

The failure has "impacted the temperature inside the school," the post states. School staff have placed industrial fans throughout the building and are venting cool air into the building in the evening.

"Our top priority is the well-being of our staff and students," the district stated. "We are allowing more frequent water breaks as needed and have been moving classes to cooler areas, including holding lessons outdoors when possible."
