CADDO PARISH, La. (KSLA) - A Keithville man was found guilty of sexually assaulting a teenaged family member on Thursday, Sept. 11.

Robert Wayne Mathews, 58, was arrested in 2023 after the victim reported that he had touched her inappropriately and escalated to further physical contact.

Mathews was previously convicted of carnal knowledge in 2005.

According to the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office , the victim and former victim testified against him. Mathews’ wife and other family and church members testified on his behalf.

Mathews will face sentencing on Oct. 1. He faces up to 10 years in prison with or without hard labor, without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
