MACOMB COUNTY, MI – A teenager died after he was hit by a vehicle in Macomb County.

Michigan State Police in Detroit responded to the incident, which occurred on Armada Ridge Road near True Road in Armada Township at 5:35 a.m. on Friday.

Police say a 16-year-old boy, a sophomore at Armada Area Schools, was riding his bike when a westbound 2018 Jeep Compass driven by a 66-year-old Memphis man struck him while attempting to pass another vehicle.

The boy was pronounced dead at a local hospital. No other injuries were reported.

“As the entire school community continues to cope with the loss, we will make every effort to help you and your child as you need,” Armada Superintendent Michael G. Musary said in a letter to parents.
