A 3-year-old boy is dead after he was hit by a vehicle when he ran into a street in California, authorities said.

On Saturday, Sept. 6, around 6:27 p.m. local time, officials rushed to the scene of a traffic collision near Artesia Boulevard and Rose Avenue in Long Beach, the Long Beach Police Department said in a release .

Officers performed CPR on the child until first responders from the local fire department arrived to take over life-saving aid. The little boy was taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries, authorities said. A prelim
