Cafegoers will have somewhere new to enjoy a lazy weekend coffee, breakfast, lunch or brunch, with a north Tamworth eatery adding its name to the weekend dining menu.

From Saturday, September 13, Cafe Retro will open on Saturdays from 7am-3pm and on Sundays from 7am-midday.

It comes as the cafe changes hands with Vikram Bhatia taking over the tenancy from Georgie Firth.

"It's time to move on, time for someone else to have a go," Ms Firth said.

She's run the Janison Street establishment for nearly eight years, after initially taking it on during the drought to give her an off-farm income.

"And I like to talk to people about anything and everything... and I love coffee," she said.

She said she had been looking for a while for someone else to take it on. Then Mr Bhatia came along.
