Amid a training camp in which Mike Tomlin was breaking in the likes of Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf, Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay, even when the topic of those two veteran cornerbacks came up, the Steelers head coach couldn’t keep himself from throwing in another offseason acquisition.
Brandin Echols didn’t make waves around the NFL like those other names and barely played against the Jets — 10 defensive snaps — but he could be thrust into a prominent role as soon as Week 2 against the Seahawks, the home opener Sunday at Acrisure Stadium.
“Hopefully a lot,” Echols said Friday when asked how much he anticipates playing. “I’m just trying to come in and gain everybody’s trust.”
