The 20th annual Forest Park Cross Country Festival has a loaded field of girls runners in the elite Green Division.

Here are three storylines to watch for when the girls take the 5-kilometer course.

Defending champs square off

The Green Division girls race, which kicks off a nine-race slate at 8:05 a.m. (four varsity, five sub-varsity), shapes up as the highlight of the meet.

St. Charles West junior Brianna Krueger is the defending meet champion and went on to claim the Class 3 title. She is the reigning Post-Dispatch All-Metro runner of the year.

Standing on the line with her will be defending Liberty junior Bella Navaro-Sanchez, the defending Class 5 state champ.

Krueger led West to a third successive Class 3 team state championship last year. She won last year’s Forest Park Green
