Morristown East was on the verge of sweeping the volleyball city championship over cross-town rival West but the Lady Trojans staged an incredible rally to pull off a shocking 3-2 triumph Thursday night at Isenberg-Siler Gym.

The Lady Hurricanes won the first meeting between the two, 3-0, and racked up routine wins in the first two sets on Thursday. But it was as if someone flipped a switch of some kind on the Lady Trojans as they played the spoiler’s role on East’s District 2-AAA championship hopes.

West scored six straight points in the third set and never lost the lead before claiming a 25-21 win. The Lady Trojans fought off two match points to win the fourth set, 28-26 to tie the match at 2-2.
