COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Hundreds of residents packed College Station City Hall on Thursday night to voice opposition to a proposed land sale that would have paved the way for up to a 200-acre data center project in the city’s Midtown Business Park.

More than 75 people registered to speak in person. Two appeared virtually, and dozens more submitted written comments. A petition with 5,047 signatures was also delivered to the council along with a packet of online comments.

Speakers included former city council members, a county commissioner, real estate professionals, and homeowners from neighborhoods surrounding the site.

Shortly before midnight and after nearly six hours of discussions, city leaders voted unanimously to reject the plan.
