The Nineveh Township community is still discussing the path forward for a new fire station and engine.

The Nineveh Fire Protection District Board of Trustees approved a motion Thursday to transition away from using the current construction managing consultant and find a new consultant for a project to build a new fire station and get a fire engine. This was at the recommendation of the board’s attorney Jacob Bowman.

The board also officially approved a resolution to pause moving forward with a $12.7 million bond for the project after dozens of community members pushed back against the high price tag and expected tax increase. The project was expected to raise taxes by approximately 31 cents per $100 of assessed value.
