A Vancouver councillor wants the Port of Vancouver to consider reopening its Clark Drive entrance to get noisy container trucks off of residential streets.
Coun. Lisa Dominato plans to introduce a motion Wednesday that would help residents in Hastings-Sunrise fed up with years of noise, disruption, and pollution from port-bound trucks.
“It’s a really important conversation to have with the port,” said Dominato. “What are the options for reopening the Clark Drive entrance for inbound trucks?
“From my perspective, it’s about livability and being responsible to the neighbourhood and residents.”
In 2011, container truck traffic from the port’s Clark Drive entrance was rerouted to Commissioner Street, about 3½ kilometres east near the PNE, due to construction.
