Officials in Four Oaks are poised to annex an assemblage of farmland east of the town center — a move that could pave the way for more development and jobs in Johnston County. Danish drugmaker Novo Nordisk, which has been growing in the county, has been scouting the property for a possible future expansion, people directly familiar with the matter told WRAL News.

The town’s Board of Commissioners is scheduled to vote Monday on the annexation of three tracts totaling 70 acres east of N.C. 96, between Spring Lake and Keen roads. The annexation would allow the landowners to use town services, such as water and sewage. The town would get tax revenue in return.
