Shay Steacy is interested in moving house – by which she means actually picking up and moving her house.

The tiny home owner was one of very few people to attend an open house at the Brockville Memorial Centre earlier this week, held by city planning officials to discuss coming changes to the zoning bylaw.

Tiny homes are one of a few solutions proposed in recent years as local leaders struggle to address a broader housing affordability crisis. Steacy said at Monday’s open house she has lived in a tiny home in Lyn for nearly three years.

“I would love to be able to have my tiny house in Brockville,” she said.

“Really – have home, will travel.”

Steacy hopes a revised Brockville zoning bylaw will encourage more people to lease some of their land to tiny home owners.
