OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha Mayor John Ewing was at The Crossroads site on Friday afternoon with City Councilman Pete Festersen and developers to deliver a new timeline for the project.
The project — 15 years in the making, Ewing and Festersen said — is expected to result in $1 billion of economic development for Omaha.
“Building a city within a city takes time, and we want to get it right,” Josh Berger, Midwest development director of the Woodbury Corp., the developer on the 44-acre project.
He said workers are currently in the process of building out long-term housing for contractors, project managers, and security that will be at the site long-term. Once that’s done, they’ll begin work on the Block D parking garage that Gamescape by Cinemark will sit atop.
