WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) - A man who lost the Black Hawk County sheriff primary election is charged after he allegedly identified himself as the sheriff in an attempt to get free food.
On September 5, officers responded to a report of suspicious behavior at 506 West 9th Street, known as Kwik Star.
Police allege 36-year-old Nihad Masic asked for a free sandwich at the store, claiming to be the sheriff. The manager said he had to be in uniform and denied his request.
Masic allegedly said, “I’m technically the new sheriff, I have to wait a couple of months.” The manager refused his request a second time.
Court documents say Masic asked if you need the uniform or just a card. He then paid for the sandwich and left the store.
